With mock exams taking place throughout the country, this and last week, mocks.ie poll gives parents an indication as to what their children are stressing over

A recent poll, carried out by online examination, correction and feedback service mocks.ie, has indicated that second level students are more concerned about mock exams than college choices, lack of money or upcoming midterm holidays.

The poll was drawn up to determine what Irish students are most worried out in the New Year. Out of the 1,450 second level students surveyed on the site throughout the month of January, 55% polled that they were worried about their upcoming mocks exams, followed by 32% most concerned about college choices. The remaining 13% was divided between money worries after Christmas and anxiety due to the length of time until their next school break.

Kate Tomkins, a leaving cert student from the Jesuit College in Galway, who took part in the poll commented, "I voted that I am really worried about my mock exams - even more so than the actual Leaving Cert at the moment! I know that my mock results will indicate how I am set for the real exams in June.....and then there is only 3 months left to cram!"

Founder of mocks.ie Eoghain Ryan commented on the findings; "Although the poll was active in January and in the run up to the CAO deadline, we were not surprised to find that students were worried about their mock exams over their college choices. This has been evident with the number of students visiting mocks.ie to use the exam correction and feedback service during and since the Christmas".

mocks.ie is an online examination, correction and feedback service and the first resource of its kind designed for all second level students focusing particularly on Junior and Leaving Cert students. The affordable service offers full written, oral and aural exams and a multiple choice revision tool for students. All written exams are corrected by qualified state examiners and students are given detailed feedback on why they lost marks so they can improve their grade.

Mr Ryan continued, "We founded the site after realising that there was no online method for students to continually assess their progress coming up to the State exams. Having been through the system and numerous college exams, it’s a no brainer that through continuous practice and feedback, students can see how their study is going and what areas and subjects the need to focus more of their study time on. With practice and assessment, students will be well prepared and certainly won’t have to be worried about any upcoming exams!".

Would you risk cheating in the Leaving Certificate to get the results you need for college entry?
Yes, the course I am going for has high points.
Maybe, only in one subject that I find difficult.
